Jesus said that He "did not come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45)". So, it is hard to complete a process of becoming like Christ without emphasizing serving others. It is this act of service that takes the emphasis off of ourselves and causes us to focus on those around us and bringing the hope of Christ to them.
Serving is not just volunteering time in a ministry at North Hills (though there are plenty of opportunities to serve within this local church). But serving is not just helping meet needs. No, the greatest act of serving involves sharing the Gospel with the world around us. It is this realization that drives ministries here at North Hills such as Project One and the Compassion Response team. These are ministries that serve those in need while pointing people toward the hope that can be found in Jesus Christ.
We also believe that one of the most spiritually impacting activities that a believer can engage in is to go on a missions trip. For this reason, a couple of times a year missions trips are offered to expose people to the needs in the world around us. Some of the trips are very accessible and low cost, while others may be overseas and require a little more preparation and planning.
If you are wondering what may be next for you, consider serving. Consider giving your life for the cause of Christ. Consider what it would look like for you to "not be served, but to serve." And then contact us for opportunities to serve right here at North Hills or to check on upcoming serving opportunities or missions trips.
