Values and Distinctives
Worship:
We are committed to prayer as the foundation of ministry and a catalyst
in releasing the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore we will emphasize personal and corporate prayer, trusting God for
the "greater works" of John 14:12 to become a reality in our lives.
We are committed to worship that is contemporary, creative, participative
and Bible-centered. Therefore we will, "Sing a new song to the Lord" (Ps. 98:1), presenting a style that will celebrate the
character of God and relate to the culture around us.
Instruction:
We are committed to Bible teaching that is analytical in nature, culturally relevant, and emphasizies application
to daily life. therefore we will seek to develop Biblical convictions in the hearts of people, proclaim the truth of Scripture
even when it is counter cultural, and strive to carry out the final portion of the Great Commission, "Teaching to obey." (Mt.
28:20)
We are committed to the truth that every Christian has a spiritual gift and a unique ministry to fulfill
( Rom. 12:3-8). Therefore we will assist people in discovering their spiritual gifts and help them employ those gifts. We
will equip each Christian to become a source of healing, to our Body and community. (Is. 61: 1-3)
Fellowship:
We are committed to the one anothers of Scripture, genuinely caring for one another, Therefore we will seek
to build healthy relationships in the church and deal with conflicts in a Biblical manner. (Col. 3:12-14). We will strive
to support one another in tough times and celebrate the good things God brings our way. ( Jn. 13:34-35) We will cultivate
a sense of "belonging" for all who come to North Hills.
We are committed to the family as one of God's priorities of society. Therefore we will feature excellence
in children's and youth programs. We will emphasize pre-marriage preparation for couples to be wed at North Hills, discipleship
in marriage and parenting skills that includes accountability, and encouragement for single parent families.
Evangelism:
We are committed to the grace of God both in the act of salvation and the process of daily living.
Therefore we will proclaim that salvation is a gift of God (Eph. 2:8-9), and growth in Christ the result of walking in that
grace.
We are committed to evangelism and discipleship that is based on personal relationships, is reproductive
in nature, and extends from our church, to the community, and world. Therefore we will emphasize one-to-one and small
group ministries (2Tim. 2:2). We will cultivate relationships with people in the community and encourage them to come to Christ.
We will plant churches as a natural extension of our ministry. We will send and support missionaries to people groups throughout
the world. (Act 1:8)
